Mono Lake is an ancient salt water lake just east of Yosemite National Park. The lake is famous for what is known as “Tufa Towers” which are limestone columns that form under water. The Tufa Towers of Mono Lake give the land an otherworldly atmosphere. I’ve always been captivated by this area and it’s geological history.
I’ve always wanted to capture the Tufa Towers with the Milky Way towering above which gives this extraterrestrial vibe. This is the first in a series I am capturing over the course of summer 2026 of the Tufa Towers.
